Have you had some success with trauma treatment, but there still seems to be a missing piece? Kimberly Dunkin LPC, SEP felt the same way and founded 14 Peaks Neurophysiological Trauma Treatment to help people overcome trauma. She now wants to share the way we do it with you. Why? Because it works and she is passionate about helping others. There are clinician courses and courses for clients.
While there are some excellent therapy models in the field, this training teaches you to treat trauma based on neuroscience at the nervous system level. It is a bottom-up therapy based on polyvagal theory, Somatic Experiencing, Interpersonal Neurobiology, The Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics, and human development.
Trauma is when the nervous system gets stuck in a defensive accommodation, or fight, flight, appease or freeze. Interpersonal Neurobiology shows us we need five elements to help someone walk through trauma. This helps move the trauma from the working memory (where they feel like they are living it daily) to their long-term memory, where it is just stored as fact (like a math fact). This must be done with the hippocampus online. This is why some therapies successfully relieve symptoms, but one of these five elements is often missing from the therapy.
This app is free to download, and you can access some lectures from the training and interventions we use to resolve trauma. Through somatic education, experiential, and practice sessions, you will learn how to help people move through unresolved issues and traumas.
This program is a blend of several modalities which focus on healing through the lens of neuroscience. What sets it apart from other training is the human developmental model and understanding of where deficits may be in the nervous system based on when the trauma occurred in someones lifetime.
Join us on this journey as we learn how the body stores and resolves trauma.
There are many great trauma treatments. The Neurophysiological Trauma Treatment Protocol adds the “timing of the adverse events” which caused the trauma. For instance, if a trauma occurred at 18 months, not only do we need to treat the implicit memories, there may be gaps in neurosequential development. The treatment for that developmental gap is needed in addition to the traditional somatic approach.
This model encompasses Somatic Therapy, touch therapy (or the intention to touch), human development, neurosequential gaps, polyvagal theory, and Interpersonal Neurobiology.
